'It's because of the Illuminati' | Kimberly Kessler tells her mom in new jailhouse calls

Kessler, also known as Jennifer Sybert, is facing a first-degree murder charge in the disappearance of Joleen Cummings.

Favoring solitary confinement, the Illuminati and the disappearance of Joleen Cummings are some of the topics accused killer Kimberly Kessler can be heard talking about with her mom in jail calls obtained by First Coast News on Friday.

Kessler, also known as Jennifer Sybert, is facing a first-degree murder charge in the disappearance of Cummings, a Nassau County mother of three.

Cummings has been missing since Mother's Day last year. Though Kessler was charged with her murder, Cummings' body was never found.

It’s unclear exactly when the calls occurred, but conversations paint a picture somewhere shortly after her arrest and others later in the investigation.

“It’s kind of funny they keep me in solitary confinement like it’s a bad thing, it’s heaven girl, I love it," Kessler said.

Shortly after her arrest, Kessler’s mom asked if she had anything to do with a missing person, but didn't specify that it was Cummings. Kessler told her mother to bail her out of jail and she’ll explain what she can to the best of her ability.

“I don’t know what happened, all I know is that I didn’t do anything, I had nothing to do with it, I have no idea,” Kessler said.

The conversation shifted to her condition in jail to her eating habits and why she believed she was being held in isolation, despite mental health counselors trying to get her moved out.

“They’re just trying to make me look bad in front of the judge by keeping me in here and making it so I stay here, she said. "They don’t have anything on me, because it’s all bull----. They’re trying to collect on an insurance policy."

Kessler and her mom continued to talk about why all the ongoing media coverage of her case and Cummings' disappearance, citing that it could be a bad omen, she says.

“I say it’s because of the Illuminati," she said. "I seriously think her people are seriously involved in it that’s just what is happening."

Earlier this month, Kessler’s lawyers said their expert determined she’s incompetent to stand trial.

Kessler is due back in court on June 27. The State Attorney’s Office is working to find when prosecutors will file a motion to seek an expert analysis of Kessler.
