JSO: Jacksonville man charged with murder of 21-year-old

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- A 24-year-old Jacksonville man has been charged in a February murder on the Westside.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- A 24-year-old Jacksonville man has been charged in a February murder on the Westside.

Jacob Omar Hill, 24, has been charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in relation to a fatal shooting that took place in the 6900 block of Goldilocks Lane on Feb. 11, according to JSO.

When police arrived at the scene, officials say they found the victims, Marcus Washington, 21, and Watson Dorcent, 27, suffering from with gunshot wounds. Washington died at the scene and Dorcent continues to recover from his injuries, according to JSO.

Dorcent, who was shot in the head, said Hill got into an argument with the victims the night before the shooting. He also said Hill returned on the night of the shooting with Quintrell Stinson, 26, who is considered a witness.

According to an arrest report, Hill approached the victims in front of Dorcent's home. Hill and Dorcent argued about the former coming to the home unannounced.

During the discussion, Hill shot Dorcent in the head, according to the report. Washington, who was standing next to Dorcent, attempted to flee but police say Hill chased after and shot him multiple times. Washington jumped a fence but collapsed due to his injuries.

Police say that is when Hill shot Washington multiple times as he laid in the yard. Hill then fled the scene.

According to JSO, witnesses were able to identify Hill, who was arrested on March 16 for violating his probation. Hill was formally charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon on Monday, May 16.

Hill has a long rap sheet that includes arrests for burglary, petite theft and criminal mischief.
