Jacksonville Heights Elementary and Westside High given the all clear

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office assisted DCPS police officers regarding an incident near Westside High School, which caused the lockdown.

Westside High School and Jacksonville Heights Elementary School were given the "all clear" after they were placed under a code red lockdown Wednesday afternoon.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office assisted DCPS police officers regarding police activity off campus near Westside High School, which caused the lockdown at both schools.

DCPS said the schools were under lockdown for about an hour before they were told by JSO that they were no longer in danger.

Witnesses told First Coast News that a group of teens in a white SUV, crashed into another car and hopped out of the vehicle. The witness said they hopped back into the vehicle, grabbed guns, then ran off.

First Coast News saw what appeared to be a teenager handcuffed in a JSO patrol car.

We are waiting to hear details from JSO.

All students and staff have been reported safe.
