Jeannie Blaylock is the co-anchor of the First Coast News at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. and she is the First Coast News Healthwatch reporter.
Jeannie has earned much recognition for her work, including 16 Emmys, multiple Associated Press awards, several national Edward R. Murrow awards and a Peabody.
Jeannie is the first person in Jacksonville to win the prestigious Peabody.
The award recognizes her pioneering work in the creation of "Buddy Check 12," which has saved the lives of hundreds of First Coast women and several men, as well. Jeannie has inspired dozens of cities - from Atlanta to Denver - to copy Buddy Check 12 and motivate women to catch breast cancer early. Buddy Check 12 will celebrate 20 years in 2012.
Buddy Check 12 encourages self exams and mammograms. Jeannie always says, "Every woman deserves a mammogram, even if she can't afford it."
So she created the M-Line, the first Mammogram Hotline on the First Coast. Thousands of women have called 1-877-9-MY-MAMO.
Jeannie was a creator of "Hero Central" on First Coast News. She saw a need and set up the Hero Dentist program, which gives thousands of dollars of dental care for free. Jeannie also gives a boost to homeless children through Hero Bakers. As Jeannie says on the news, "Every child deserves a birthday cake, right?"
Her journalism work takes her to other countries, as well. Her goal - always -- is to inform and also to help. Her reports from Haiti inspired donations for earthquake victims. Now more than a hundred amputees are walking again on new prosthetic legs.
Jeannie is married to Jacksonville native, Bill Lyle. She is the proud mom of twins.
