Jacksonville Zoo will reach new milestone with millionth visitor

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- As of Wednesday morning Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens announced they had reached 997,600 visitors for the past fiscal year, which ends Friday, September 30th.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- As of Wednesday morning Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens announced they had reached 997,600 visitors for the past fiscal year, which ends Friday, September 30th.

Their goal is to reach an unprecedented 1 MILLION visitors by close of Friday.

To encourage guests to come out to the zoo for the final week of the fiscal year and to celebrate the record-setting numbers, they are offering special deals, prizes and festivities.

Through Friday night, general admission will only be $10 from open until 1:00 PM and $5 from 1:00 PM until close. They will have face-painting and other fun activities for kids in the afternoon on Wednesday.

For whoever buys the one millionth zoo ticket, they have a prize basket, full of fun art paintings from the animals themselves, behind the scenes passes, cups, t-shirts and several passes to their much-anticipated "Brew at the Zoo" in October.
