A Jacksonville teen is being charged in connection with a November murder after his roommate was killed in a drug robbery shootout.

Le’Keian Woods, 18, faces second-degree murder charges in the fatal shooting of Derrick Curtis at a Magnolia Drive apartment complex. Woods was arrested on a warrant March 16. He was booked into the Leon County jail Thursday.

Curtis, 19, was killed by Brian King in self-defense, Tallahassee Police say, when the duo tried to rob him during a marijuana buy.

Curtis and Woods met King at the Tally Square Apartments just before 10 p.m. on Nov. 3. They parked and approached the Chrysler 300 King was driving and tried to get in.

King told investigators he became nervous and got out of his car. As they purchased the marijuana, Woods signaled Curtis and they initiated a robbery.
