A Lake City woman is fed up with the condition of her street and she contacted the Ask Anthony team for help.
Betty Goggins wiped away tears as she showed Anthony Austin videos of Camp Street, a place she's called home for decades.
"This is the street that we drive on every day," Goggins said.
For two years, she has been walking down Camp Street showing the conditions of a road she says is in terrible shape.
"I'm just telling the city council how bad the street is and it needs to be fixed," Goggins said.
Goggins has gone before the Lake City Council at least three times, pleading with city leaders to repave this road that she says is full of holes. But, she's only left frustrated with no results.
"I'm almost going to cry because I'm so happy you're here. I know you'll bring attention to this," Goggins told Austin.
Goggins said the road damaged her tires and she's concerned about the elementary school and daycare center in the area.
"How do you expect parents to drop off and pick up their children when this is going on?" Goggins responded.
Anthony emailed all Lake City council members, including the mayor, but no one responded to his questions about the condition of the road or when it would possibly be repaired.
"I don't know how much the citizens and the residents on this part of town can take," Goggins added.
Anthony called city hall and left messages. He received a call back from Steve Brown, Lake City's public works director.
Brown said it will cost $750,000 to repair the road and the city has applied for a grant with the Florida Department of Transportation. He said as soon as it is approved, Camp Street will be next for repairs.
"The residents are crying out...do something!" Goggins exclaimed.
The Ask Anthony team reached out to the Florida Department of Transportation for a possible timeline on getting the grant approved, but the agency was unable to provide an update.
