JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville business has been the unintentional target of numerous car crashes. They turned to the Ask Anthony team for help.
"The speeding is the main thing. They come so fast around the corner that they can't control that one little curve and it's causing them to hit the building each time," Vicky Marcal explained.
William and Vicky Marcal help run their family company called "Duval Finest Countertops" on Emerson Street near Downtown Jacksonville. They moved into the building five years ago.
The Marcal siblings said cars have crashed into the building about six times in the past two years. They weren't done repairing the building from the first accident, before another car crash just a few weeks ago.
"Sometimes there's alcohol related into it," Marcal added.
As you can imagine, the price to rebuild hasn't been cheap.
"$75,000...six times...is just outrageous."
The Marcal family would like to see some type of barrier or guardrail placed outside of their business.
"I've sent letters to the mayor. Police officers have led me to six different places, but nobody is really coming to a resolution for this," Marcal said.
These car crashes are affecting the family's insurance and finances, and most importantly, their safety.
"We're such a small, tiny, family business. We're trying to grow and be bigger. This keeps impacting us."
Anthony Austin contacted the City of Jacksonville about this issue. A spokesperson said they are going to look into the matter.
They advised contacting 630-CITY to file a request and then the traffic engineering division in the Public Works Department can review it.
