Columbia County officials released new 911 audio detailing the death of a 14-year-old who was shot and killed at a friend's house in Lake City.
Jadon Lane Vaughn was staying at the home in the 200 block of Southeast Anastasia Street when he was shot on Dec. 26, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office. He has since died.
Police say the shooter, an 11-year-old boy, was Vaughn's friend. That child was charged with manslaughter.

In one of the 911 calls released, the father of the boy who allegedly shot Vaughn said his son called him frantically and said Vaughn pulled a knife on his son.
Caller: "My son said he just shot somebody at my house ... he said that his friend pulled a knife on him and tried to stab him and he shot him."
...
911: "Tell me exactly what happened, ok?"
Caller: "My son called me, he was screaming, crying. He said he shot his friend because his friend came at him with a knife. That's all I was told. There was screaming, crying."
After further investigation, detectives determined that the suspect fabricated the story.
When the father arrived at his home, he appeared to have handed the phone to a woman who told the 911 operator Vaughn didn't have a pulse.
In the call, the woman said she first thought Vaughn was shot in the hip, but said she discovered he was shot in the head.
Authorities haven't confirmed the location where Vaughn was shot.
An 11-year-old and 9-year-old, both brothers, were the only other individuals involved in the fatal shooting, deputies say.
