Crews with the Putnam County Fire and Rescue Department (PCFR) are working to determine what caused an incident at a paper manufacturing mill in Putnam County on Wednesday.
Rescue crews responded to reports of a fire at the Georgia-Pacific Corporation, located at 215 County Road around 10:30 a.m. When they arrived they found the 'tissue' manufacturing side of the building filled with smoke.
Multiple units responded to the scene and no injuries were reported.
Mark Brown, a spokesperson with the Georgia-Pacific Corporation, says that it's not clear if there were visible flames, but did confirm that an incident took place.
"We asked for the fire department to respond due to smoke," Mark Brown said. "We're investigating where that smoke came from but the situation is now under control."
Brown said that the company is working with PCFR to determine the cause of the smoke.
According to the Georgia-Pacific Corporation's website, the company is one of the worlds leading makers of tissue products including paper towels, toilet paper, napkins and facial tissue.
