Tolls for the First Coast Expressway and the express lanes project for Interstate-295 are expected to take effect in the spring, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
FDOT said it is still too soon to determine an exact date for when the tolls start.
The first stretch of the FCE connects I-10 with Blanding Boulevard to the south. Since the road opened, drivers have been allowed to use the road toll-free. However, FDOT is encouraging drivers who use the road to acquire a SunPass transponder device as soon as possible.

Construction for the express lanes along I-295 from I-95 to the Buckman Bridge began back in 2014 and will have access points west of the San Jose Boulevard interchange and at the I-95 south interchange.
