Family and friends have identified the woman killed inside an apartment complex in Arlington Monday as pregnant 19-year-old Iyana McGraw.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the complex in the 3200 block of Justina Road at around 8 p.m. Once at the scene, they found a woman shot inside the apartment. She was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, JSO said.
A friend who did not want to be identified told First Coast News she was speaking with McGraw hours before the shooting.
"Baby girl Milan, she had the room set up and everything," the friend said.
The friend described McGraw as a spontaneous, fun person who had never been in trouble.
According to a relative, McGraw was nine months pregnant with her first child, Milan.
McGraw's aunt tells us she had a scholarship offer from Spelman College in Atlanta.
Now, her family and friends are mourning McGraw's death.
Friends say McGraw was excited about being a mother and was expecting to deliver her baby daughter on Friday.
No suspects have been arrested at this time.
JSO says McGraw was found inside her apartment at the University Townhomes with gunshot wounds.
McGraw's friend says she couldn't think of anyone who may have done this.
"Her life was supposed to go on forever," McGraw's friend said. "Her baby was supposed to know her ... she [McGraw's daughter] was supposed to know how pure, how gold her heart was, she was one in a million."
