Their cat was burned to death with lighter fluid. Now they speak out.
Camus was found burned to death

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Earlier this week, Amy Garrett and her boyfriend Adam came home from work to find their cat, Camus, burned to death, lighter fluid nearby. Garrett spoke exclusively with First Coast News Thursday.

She said she and Adam are heartbroken, but their other cats are feeling the loss too. David Bowie and Camus were brother and sister. Garrett said Bowie's attitude has changed since Monday.

"He's always been the tough guy, and he just melts in my arms when I hold him. He's never relay done that. I never knew cats could cry. It's heartbreaking," said Garrett.

Garrett said she thought someone was trying to burn down the house, and then she found the cat.

"Of all of them, Camus was the gentlest, sweetest, the one who would not understand danger," said Garrett. "I'm hoping it's some kids that didn't know what they were doing, and after experiencing it, feel real remorse."

Garrett has a Give Forward account set up. She originally had a goal of $1,000 but neighbors and friends have already donated more than $2,000. She says this money will go to the person who give the tip that leads to the arrest of whoever did this.
