St. Johns County School District holding book objection meeting to make decision on removing 4 books

The agenda for Tuesday's meeting shows the books that are in question are only available to high school students grades nine through 12th.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Johns County School District is deciding if four books will be removed from its libraries Tuesday.

Right now, a book objection hearing is being held in the auditorium of the St. Johns County School District Administrative Building, located at 40 Orange St. The agenda for the meeting shows the books that are in question are only available to high school students grades 9th through 12th.

Here are the names of them:

  • Slaughterhouse Five
  • Freedom Writer's Diary
  • Later Gator
  • Stolen Life

There was a request for board members to reconsider removing them, as in Tuesday's agenda, only one person is making an appeal to the material.

At last check, 62 books were removed from all of St. Johns County School District's media centers and libraries.
