Columbia High School has served Columbia County students and families for over 120 years, beginning in 1888. The school was previous located in downtown Lake City but moved to its current location on S.E. Fighting Tiger Drive in 1975.

CHS serves grades nine through twelve and is one of two high schools in a predominantly rural county in northeast Florida, according to the school's website. CHS offers 14 different Advanced Placement courses, as well as an opportunity to earn high school and college credit through the Dual Enrollment program offered through an agreement with Florida Gateway College.

The school offers ten academies: the Academy of Banking, the Academy of Building Construction, Child Care Academy, the Criminal Justice Academy, Academy of Culinary Arts, the Academy of Entrepreneurship, the Academy of Global Logistics and Warehouse Management, the Academy of Graphic Arts and Design, the Teacher Preparation Academy and the Allied Health Academy, as well as an Executive Internship Program. CHS has 37 academic, honor and special-interest clubs, in addition to several interscholastic teams.
