DCPS short 149 bus drivers, causing massive delays for students

Duval County Public Schools said Tuesday the county saw more delays than on-time bus arrivals, with some students waiting 30 to 90 minutes for a ride to school.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A shortage of bus drivers in Duval County is causing massive delays for students, with some waiting more than an hour to be taken to school.

Tuesday, there were dozens of 30 minute delays, with more delayed buses than there were on-time arrivals, according to Duval County Public Schools.

With more than 700 routes that need covered, bus drivers are having to take on extra stops which are causing delays.

DCPS said Tuesday there were 149 open bus driver positions that still need to be filled.
