WARE COUNTY, Ga. — All schools in Ware County will remain closed for two more weeks due to the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, the school district announced Thursday on its Facebook page.

Ware County Schools (WCS) said schools will be closed to students through Oct. 18. This includes the week of 'Fall Break,' which is Oct. 14-18.

Students will return back to school on Monday, Oct. 21.

The school district said its Central Office is still without power, as well as Daffodil Pre-K, Waresboro Elementary and Ware County Middle.

Additionally, WCS said electrical power and communication channels remain unstable in some areas.

"School system personnel will be focusing their efforts on repairing damages to school facilities, facilitating the inspection of kitchens and water supply for food preparation as required by USDA, and restocking food supply," Ware County Schools said on Facebook.

The school district said "this is a rapidly changing situation."
