TAMPA -- A woman who allegedly made death threats against the parent of a child who was killed in the Sandy Hook massacre was indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice and arrested on December 5.
The DOJ said that Lucy Richards, 57, believed that the 2012 school shooting in Newtown, Conn. that took the lives of 20 children and six adults was a hoax and that this belief motivated Richards to allegedly threaten the parent several times.
According to the report, the parent now lives in south Florida, where the investigation began.
Richards was indicted on four counts of transmitting threats in interstate commerce. If Richards is convicted, she could face a maximum of 20 years in prison.
She made her initial appearance in front of a federal judge on Monday and will appear in court again on December 19.
