JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting in the Sherwood Forest area that left a young woman dead.
JSO said there were reports of a person shot on the 4700 block of Portsmouth Avenue just after 7 p.m.
When officers got there, police and the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department found two victims. The first was a woman between 16 and 20 years old, and the second was a man between 18 and 20.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said the victims were in their vehicle when they were shot. A gray two- or four-door car stopped in front of them and two men exited the vehicle and began shooting, police said.
The car then drove off in an unknown direction.
Officers are canvassing the area for witnesses and possible surveillance video.
