Woman who shot at Clay Co. deputies in cemetery, now charged with counts of fraudulent use of credit card

Tammy Saucier, 51, faces three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card on top of five counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, jail records show.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — The woman who was arrested after shooting at Clay County deputies in the middle of a cemetery last month, is facing three new charges on top of attempted murder charges, according to a new arrest report.

Tammy Saucier, 51, faces five counts of felony second-degree attempted murder of a law enforcement officer and three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, according to jail records.

On Jan. 29, the new arrest report states that a deputy responded to Saucier's workplace, Doctors Inlet Elementary School located at 2634 County Road 220, regarding a credit card fraud complaint.

Saucier had been suspended from her job as a bookkeeper for Doctors Inlet Elementary prior to the deputy-involved shooting, according to her arrest report on the attempted murder charges. Either arrest report doesn't detail why or when she was suspended. However, Clay County Schools told First Coast News Wednesday that Saucier's employment with the school district was "concluded last Thursday."

Doctors Inlet Elementary School Principal Carolyn Ayers told police that during an "internal audit" held on an unknown date, the school board found several suspicious purchases with multiple different accounts, the new report states. The school has charge cards with Publix and Walmart and a charge account with Home Depot, according to the report.

Ayers provided police with the following list of unauthorized charges on the accounts:

  • Walmart, located at 2570 County Road 220 - $283.31, transaction date of Jan. 4, 2024
  • Walmart, located at 1580 Branan Field Rd. - $280.88, transaction date of Dec. 24, 2023
  • Publix, located at 2640 Blanding Blvd. - $46.95, transaction date of Dec. 13, 2023
  • Publix, located at 2640 Blanding Blvd. - $98.88, transaction date of Dec. 30, 2023
  • Publix, located at 950 Blanding Blvd. - $49.08, transaction date of Jan. 8, 2024
  • Publix, located at 2640 Blanding Blvd. - $38.29, transaction date of Dec. 23, 2023
  • Publix, located at 950 Blanding Blvd. - $205.07, transaction date of Dec. 17, 2023
  • Publix, located at 950 Blanding Blvd. - $37.41, transaction date of Dec. 19, 2023
  • Publix, located at 2640 Blanding Blvd. - $36.99, transaction date of Jan. 1, 2024
  • Publix, located at 2640 Blanding Blvd. - $234.17, transaction date of Dec. 22, 2023
  • Home Depot, located at 1575 County Road 220 - $363.97, transaction date of Dec. 23, 2023
  • Home Depot, located at 1575 Branan Field Rd. - $87.98, transaction date of Dec. 24, 2023

The total amount of unauthorized charges on the accounts is $1,762.98.

The arrest report states that the cards were the responsibility of and in possession of Saucier since she is the school's bookkeeper. Ayers says Saucier submitted the receipts for the purchases, but made up fictitious reasons for the purchases.

Police reviewed video footage and images of Saucier making each purchase with Ayers, the report states, as Ayers told deputies that she has been Saucier's "boss for 6 years" and has known her personally for 15 years.

"C. Ayers reviewed the video/images and positively identified the female making each of the purchases as the defendant [Saucier]," the report states.

Ayers further told police that the items from two of the transactions made by Saucier were brought and used by the school, however they were not approved purchases, the report states.

According to the report, the purchase of $49.08 from Publix was for several packs of muffins. Saucier told Ayers that the muffins were donated by someone who works at Publix, the report details.

The $283.31 purchase from Walmart was for various snacks and drinks for the school's snack store, the report states, as Saucier explained to Ayers that her mother purchased the items for the school.

Due to Saucier being in the intensive care unit at a local hospital, recovering from injuries suffered in the shooting, CCSO was unable to interview her regarding the transactions, the report states.

"Due to the defendant [Saucier] being positively identified as the subject making each purchase, along with the principal of the school stating she did not have authorization to make the purchases, there is probable cause to arrest the defendant on three counts of credit card fraud," the report states.

Saucier will make her first court appearance on Feb. 26.
