Woman shot while waiting for Uber ride in Jacksonville's Lake Forest Hills area

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the victim was not confronted by anyone prior to the shooting, and only heard gunfire right before she was hit with bullets.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman is recovering after she was shot while waiting for an Uber ride in the city's Lake Forest Hills neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a reported person shot on 1400 Palmdale Street. 

When officers arrived, they located a woman in her late 30s with gunshot wounds to the back and leg. 

She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Police said the initial investigation showed the victim was waiting for her Uber when she was hit by gunfire. 

The motive of the shooting in unknown. Police said the victim was not confronted by anyone prior to the shooting.

Violent Crimes and Crime Scene Unit detectives were on scene canvassing for possible surveillance video that could have captured the incident. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
