A judge sentenced a woman to five years and ten months in prison for allegedly stealing multiple guns during the summer of 2017.
According to court documents, Bruquanna Griffin, 22, along with another unidentified individual worked together to steal guns from multiple Jacksonville gun stores.
The documents said that a co-conspirator distracted sales staff while Griffin went behind the counter and stole the guns. At one store, Griffin is said to have stolen as many as five guns.
Griffin was arrested on Aug. 23, 2017, when she attempted to leave a store with two stolen guns in her purse, police reports said.
Police said that Griffin initially gave a fake name to the arresting officers but then admitted to being a part of the gun theft ring. She told officers that she stole the guns and her co-conspirator kept, sold, and traded them.
According to court documents, Griffin pled guilty to stealing firearms and for conspiring to steal firearms from federally licensed firearms dealers on March 12, 2018.
