Woman 'pistol whipped,' shot in leg during dispute in front of Jacksonville home, police say

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman was "pistol whipped" and shot in the leg during a dispute in the driveway of a home in Jacksonville's Arlington area Monday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO Sergeant Lloyd says around 10 p.m., officers responded to 3800 Chestwood Ave. about a person shot. Upon arrival, the woman in her 20s was found suffering from the gunshot wound, as police say she was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Lloyd says the woman was pistol whipped in the head and that she was in a dispute with another woman who the sheriff's office says there is currently no description of.

Furthermore, JSO says the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, but it does not have a description of the vehicle either.

"Crime Scene Unit detectives are processing the crime scene," Lloyd told First Coast News. "Violent Crime detectives responded and are actively canvassing for witnesses and video surveillance. The investigation is ongoing."

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO's non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
