Woman crashes into firetruck in Putnam County, flees scene

The driver crashed into Engine 142, belonging to the Florahome-Grandin Fire Department, Saturday night, and fled the scene.

Florida Highway Patrol is searching for a woman they say crashed her vehicle into a fire truck in Putnam County and fled the scene.

The driver crashed into Engine 142, belonging to the Florahome-Grandin Fire Department, Saturday night. The fire truck was sitting at an intersection of Coral Farms Road and State Road 100, according to a Facebook post by the fire department.

The suspect is described as a heavy-set, middle-aged white female standing between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 5 inches tall, FHP says. She was seen wearing a black sweater and was driving a beige four-door Ford passenger car with damage to the left front end. The vehicle will also have a missing grill, according to FHP.

If caught, the woman faces a charge for leaving the scene of an incident.

The Class A fire engine will be out of service until further notice, the fire department says.
