An escaped inmate with ties to Jacksonville has been captured in St. Johns County, the Walton County Sheriff's Office said.
Walton County Sheriff's Office and Office of the City Marshal, DeFuniak Springs Police responded to a call regarding an escaped prisoner John Kiedrowski III from Walton Correctional Institution Friday. The sheriff's office announced his arrest 6:30 a.m. Monday. He was booked in St. Johns County Monday at 12:28 a.m.
Kiedrowski, 59, is currently serving time for aggravated assault, felony possession of a firearm or ammunition, attempted burglary with a weapon and grand theft of a firearm. He has previously served prison time for battery on a law enforcement officer, the sheriff's office said.
There was a one-and-a-half-hour time lapse from the last time he was seen on prison property, the sheriff's office said Friday. The agency said he had ties to Jacksonville.
Cameras show Kiedrowski being picked up in the parking lot of Walton Correctional Institution at 10:59 a.m. Friday. Deputies believed he was traveling in a dark-colored Chrysler 200.
A Freeport man and woman, Michael Britton, 43, and Shawna Perkins, 45, have been arrested for aiding in Kiedrowski’s escape, the sheriff's office said.
