JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Surveillance video shows a man crawling for help after being shot on Jacksonville's Westside during a triple shooting Tuesday afternoon. The video comes from a business right next to the complex where that shooting happened.

JSO said at a press conference Tuesday that one man died and two other victims were in surgery after a shooting at a business complex in the 2000 block of Jammes Road. Police did not have an immediate update on their condition.

During the investigation into the shooting, police said JSO gang units were in the area trying to determine if those men involved were affiliated with gangs. It’s a connection that crime expert Kim Varner, who worked with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office gang unit over a decade ago, says investigators always look for.

“If you're part of one of those specialized units, yes, you look, you check to see if that that particular shooting is involved is gang related. These days that nowadays a lot of them are gang related," Varner said.

The gunshots can be heard in surveillance video from a business near the shooting, before customers are seen fleeing from the scene. A man in a blue shirt appears from the direction of the shooting, appearing to be shot and drops to the sidewalk before crawling to a business door. EMS arrives moments later and takes the man away.

The man is one of the two people injured underwent surgery, according to police. One other person died.

Varner says investigators will look at past incidents and persons to see if there is a connection.

“You have the gang unit, here, the gun violence unit, and they have different units that work together. And track a particular individual, or all the gang. All the documented gang members are tracked by different units in the sheriff's office," Varner said.

Police say the shooter was wearing a mask and ran from the scene.
