Two years later, Amber Bass' family still waits for justice

"I don't understand why it happened, I don't understand why it is still not solved," says Robin Lezcano, Amber's older sister.

ID=30334949JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It has been two long years of waiting, but Amber Bass' family still has no closure.

"I don't understand why it happened, I don't understand why it is still not solved," says Robin Lezcano, Amber's older sister.

Robin found Amber covered in blood in the driveway, a gunshot wound in her chest. In the days after Amber's murder, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office released a sketch of Amber's missing purse and a photo of a car that was possibly following Amber's that night.

But there's been little in the way of new developments since. Still no suspects, still no motive, still no answers.

"The police have very much made it clear that at this point we need the public to step up, we need someone to come forward," says Robin.

As time passes, Robin says it is hard to watch her children try to understand that their aunt was murdered, and no one knows why. Without closure, Amber's death has permeated every inch of their lives -- even 5-year-old Bella says she wants to become a police officer so her family can get justice.

"Because I want to find the bad guy that hurt Amber," says Bella.

Robin and her family are trying anything they can to generate leads, even starting up a Facebook page called 'Justice for Amber Bass'.

"The more likes and shares that are generated on Facebook, the more access people have to my sister's case," says Robin.

She says this page also serves as a reminder to her sister's killer that Amber's family is not giving up. Robin says she is tired of hearing people saying they are sorry for her loss. All she wants is someone to come forward.

"That tiny bit of information, just get that person off the street and never let them do something like this to anyone else again," she says, fighting through tears.

If you have any information about Amber's murder, call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS. You can remain completely anonymous and there is also a reward of $4,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case.

On Sunday, Amber's family, friends and supporters will gather at Baker Point Park in Ortega at 6 p.m. to remember Amber's life. It is open to the public, so anyone is welcome to attend.
