Police are still searching for several stolen guns after arresting three people in connection to a stolen Jacksonville Sheriff's Office police car and burglary on Sunday.
Police say these people have been arrested as a result of a search warrant in the 7100 block of Yowdy Star Lane:
Juan Anibal Otero, 20, was charged with armed burglary, auto theft, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana.
Orialys Santiago-Maldonado, 20, was charged with armed burglary and auto theft.
Kyler Evans, 24, was charged with armed burglary, auto theft and possession of marijuana.
According to an incident report, on Sunday between 9:40 a.m. and 10:01 a.m. a suspect got out the back seat of an unknown dark-colored car at an off-duty Jacksonville Sheriff's Officer's home. Police say two other suspects remained in the car.
The report states the suspect walked toward the back of the officer's residence, removed an air-conditioning unit from an unlocked rear window and entered the home. Once inside, the suspect ransacked the residence and stole a JSO issued handgun, along with a personal shotgun.
The suspect left through the front door and left in the patrol car.
According to police, on Tuesday around 5 p.m., the officer arrived home following a trip and discovered her issued JSO marked patrol vehicle was missing from the driveway of her home.
Police say she also discovered her home had been ransacked and burglarized, with several firearms and ballistic vests missing.
Detectives arrived a short time later and began their investigation into the incident.
JSO brought the report of the stolen vehicle to social media on Tuesday evening and quickly received a tip that the car was abandoned on the Westside. Officers responded to the area and located the abandoned vehicle, though the body armor and firearms remained missing.
Evidence gathered led to three individuals’ involvement. One of those was Otero, who was found to be in possession of a stolen firearm as well as cocaine and marijuana.
The JSO SWAT team serving a search warrant resulted in the arrests of the other two individuals, Santiago-Maldonado and Evans.
Police say this continues to be an active investigation and they are still attempting to locate the stolen firearms and body armor taken during the burglary.
