JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A St. Johns man who is accused of attempting to meet up with an 8-year-old girl had his state charges dropped earlier this month, as the State Attorney's Office tells First Coast News the case has "went federal."
Chad Sadlowski, 33, is charged with the following, according to a disposition:
- Traveling to meet a minor to do unlawful acts
- Soliciting a child via computer (guardian/misrepresent defendant's age)
- Unlawful use of a two-way communications device
- Promoting a sexual performance
Sadlowski was a respiratory therapist at Mayo Clinic at the time of his arrest which happened on April 28 in Jacksonville, his arrest report states.
Mayo Clinic told First Coast News in a statement shortly after Sadlowski's arrest that his charges "are not related to his role at Mayo."
The redacted arrest report says Sadlowski was talking to the uncle of an 8-year-old girl via the website Whisper. Police said he referred to sexual acts in the chats with what he believed to be was the 8-year-old child he was texting.
Sadlowski then traveled to a pre-arranged location to meet the child where he was arrested by Jacksonville sheriff's officers, with assistance from the Clay County Sheriff's Office, at a gas station, the report states. The report also says he passed the location more than once before stopping.
Sadlowski remains in custody and faces a 15-year minimum mandatory sentence in federal court, according to the disposition.
