ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Authorities arrested the son of a sitting St. Augustine city commissioner Monday in connection to a brazen St. Augustine home invasion, according to police.
Jacob Sikes Kline, 19, of Miruela Avenue, is accused of masterminding the armed robbery of a West Jayce Way home in January after allegedly telling the other suspects involved that the couple who live there had "ripped" him off.
Kline was booked into the St. Johns County Jail Monday afternoon on a charge of principal to home invasion robbery with a firearm or deadly weapon, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
Kline, a local golf standout, is being held on $100,000 bond.
The victims told investigators at least three armed men, two wearing masks, barged into their home about 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 25 and demanded money, deputies said. They got away with cash, car keys and a cell phone.
Kline marks the latest arrest in the case. Larry Thomas Travis, Jr. 21, Sean Edmung Riggs, 18, Ronald Tyrone Burch, 20, and Marcus Theodore Lewis, 19, were previously arrested in the case. All four face charges.
Last month, police launched an investigation after someone threw what appeared to be a Molotov cocktail through a window at the Miruela Avenue home of City Commissioner Nancy Sikes-Kline on Feb. 26.
No one was seriously hurt in the incident and damage to the home was minimal.
The commissioner provided this statement to First Coast News Monday evening:
"We love our son and will do everything we can to help him. Please respect our privacy during this difficult time for our family."
