SJSO: Man arrested after several drugs seized from St. Augustine home in 'undercover operation'

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office says the home where the drugs were seized from "has been a concern in the neighborhood for years."

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A man was arrested on Thursday in St. Johns County after several drugs were seized from a St. Augustine home in an "undercover operation," according to the sheriff's office.

Janson Meachem, 42, faces charges of armed trafficking of cocaine and MDMA, possession of cocaine with the intent to sell, maintaining a drug dwelling for the purpose of trafficking narcotics with a minor present, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, a St. Johns County Sheriff's Office (SJSO) Facebook post states.

On Thursday, the post says SJSO's Special Investigations Unit detectives, SWAT, Task Force, K9, as well as St. Augustine Police Department detectives executed a narcotics search warrant at the home at 1200 Sanitorium Ave.

"This home has been a concern in the neighborhood for years and the undercover operation sparked from SJSO's response to numerous calls for service and complaints from neighbors," the post states.

Police say detectives seized over 16 grams of crack cocaine, over 78 grams of MDMA, over 75 grams of powder cocaine, more than 101 grams of marijuana, a handgun, digital scales, and jewelers baggies from inside the home. Moreover, a minor was found inside the home during execution of the search warrant, according to the post.

Meachem was arrested after telling detectives the narcotics belonged to him and that he sells them to make money, the sheriff's office says.
