SJSO: Police looking for car after driver opened fire on I-95

Bullets struck another vehicle, which caused the driver of that vehicle to crash into the center guard rail. A female passenger was injured in the accident.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is looking for help identifying the driver of a car that opened fire as it passed another vehicle near mile marker 327 near 11:20 a.m. Tuesday. They have released a picture of the car, which is pictured below.

Police say the driver was hit by gunfire and crashed into the center guard rail. A female passenger was injured by glass that broke in the accident.

The man who was shot was airlifted from the scene. The woman was taken to the hospital.

First Coast News spoke with Tommy Bouchelle, who drove past the incident shortly after it happened.

"Initially I saw a lot of police coming down heading southbound as if they were chasing whoever ran that car off the road and took off or something else was happening."

Police are asking that anyone with a dash camera look through their footage to see if they passed this vehicle.

If you have seen the vehicle or have any information that may help, call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-8477 or call SJCSO at 904-824-8477.
