The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said around 1:24 p.m., they received calls saying that shots were fired in the area. When police arrived, they found a man, who appeared to be in his 20s, dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
Bicyclists in the area attempted to help the victim, police said.
Initial investigations show that the man was riding a green/black motorcycle when he got into an altercation with a person in a black newer-model, Dodge Ram truck, who started chasing him, police said.
Over 15 shots were fired, striking the victim multiple times, JSO said. The shooter then fled the scene in a northern direction, police said.
Police are still investigating this incident and are no longer looking for the black truck in connection with the shooting.
Police said the incident seems to be isolated and it is not yet clear if it was gang-related.
