JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A shooting in Jacksonville's Mixon Town area Monday morning left one injured, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
JSO's Sergeant Lloyd says around 12:30 a.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of Lewis Street after the shooting took place. Upon arrival, a man in his 30s was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after he was shot in his chest; he is stable, according to Lloyd.
Police say the man was standing outside of a home in the area when a "dark, unknown make or model pickup truck" stopped in the roadway in front of the home.
"An unidentified black male wearing a mask exited the passenger seat of the vehicle and discharged a firearm, striking the victim," Lloyd said. "The residence was hit at least two times."
Lloyd says there were two adults inside of the home at the time shots were fired, but they did not suffer any injuries.
Currently, there is no suspect description nor a description of the vehicle, JSO says.
JSO's Violent Crime Unit detectives responded to the scene and are actively canvassing for witnesses and video surveillance, according to Lloyd, as the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO's non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
