Shooting in Downtown Jacksonville near Jumbo Shrimp Stadium Friday night

The shooting happened on Georgia Street Friday evening. JFRD said they took a patient to the hospital with serious injuries.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — 7:30 a.m. Update: 

A Friday night shooting on Georgia Street in the Stadium District of Downtown Friday evening left a victim with non-life-threatening injuries and a suspect in custody, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office

The Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department says the victim was in serious condition when they were taken to the hospital.

JSO shut down a large portion of Georgia street near Lot P of EverBank Stadium around 7:30 p.m. They cordoned off sections of the parking lot as part of the crime scene. Cars were allowed to leave around 11:30 p.m.  

JSO said officers have detained a suspect nearby and there is no threat to the public. 

Georgia Street is one of the cross streets where 121 Financial Ballpark is located. No one involved in this incident was an attending the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp game.

It also borders Lot J of the Jaguars stadium and is one street over from VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, where graduation ceremonies took place Friday evening.

The Jumbo Shrimp game did not pause at any point.
