JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in connection to a murder at a Baymeadows motel from February last year.
On Feb. 17, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting in the 8200 block of Dix Ellis Trail. Officers found a man suffering from a single gunshot wound who was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
JSO detectives and the State Attorney's Office reviewed evidence and honed in on a suspect, 33-year-old Rockwell Jones.
Police said at the time the hotel was closed down, but that people were still living there and that no weapon was located.
An arrest warrant was issued for Jones who was interviewed Jan. 11, 2024, and later charged with murder.
