JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Sheriff’s Association has increased the reward for a man suspected of killing a man and injuring a woman at the Paddock Mall in Ocala on Dec. 23.
The reward is now $20,000.
Ocala Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal shooting and investigators identified Albert Shell Jr. as the suspect. An extensive manhunt followed and has been underway since the shooting, according to OPD.
Footage from the shooting showed shoppers fleeing near the Starbucks as 40-year-old David Barron was killed and a bystander was shot in the leg ,according to the Ocala Gazette.
The Florida Sheriff’s Association offered an additional $5,000 reward through their Criminal Apprehension Assistance Program.
The Ocala Police Department asks anyone with information to call 352-369-7000 that could help locate and apprehend Shell.
“This criminal act committed in a crowded mall with no regard for the safety of our citizens, has affected all of us. I appreciate the FSA standing with us and offering an increased reward as we work to bring this criminal to justice," Sheriff Billy Woods said in a press release.
