JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Mandarin Middle School employee facing a battery charge is accused of cornering and inappropriately touching a parent who was picking up her child in November 2023, an arrest report stated.
Curtis Williams, 52, was charged with misdemeanor battery. Duval County School Police received approval from the State Attorney's Office to arrest Williams and took him into custody Tuesday. Williams worked for DCPS since 2022.
Around 2:30 p.m. Nov. 14, 2023, the victim said Williams asked her to come into his office when she was picking up her son from school. The victim said Williams shut the door, "grabbed her in a hug and started feeling all over her," attempted to kiss her and said he wanted to lick her, the report said.
The victim fought off Williams and gave him her phone number to get him to go away, the report said. She received a text message from Williams before she left school property, officers said. School surveillance footage showed the victim talking Williams and entering his office before the door is shut by Williams, the report said.
The report said that prior to officers questioning Williams, he "evidence locked" the surveillance footage, essentially pausing a sequence and save it from deletion, with officers noting school resource officers are not usually trained to do that.
Williams told officers that nothing inappropriate occurred and he exchanged numbers with the victim in the office with the door open.
Williams was removed from the school on Nov. 16.
