PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — Four people, including a mother and her two sons, were arrested at a Palatka home Wednesday after investigators found drugs and firearms throughout the residence, ending a "months-long" investigation into the residence, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
Yolanda Miller, 46, was arrested with her sons, 20-year-old Amaad Fields and 17-year-old Ja'zari Fields. B'Jayvious Fowler, 20, was also arrested.
On Wednesday, members with the Drug Unit, SWAT team, and officers with the Palatka Police Department, issued a search warrant at Miller's home. Investigators say they've been looking into drug sales at Miller's home and at a nearby apartment complex owned by the Palatka Housing Authority.
While searching the home on Royal Drive in Palatka, detectives found 16 grams of cocaine, more than a pound of marijuana and six firearms. Investigators are processing the firearms that were found in the home for DNA, and are working to learn if the firearms were reported stolen or used in a crime.
Miller told detectives she would leave her 17-year-old son at the home with known gang members to conduct drug sales.
"Miller is not a mother," said Sheriff H.D. 'Gator' DeLoach," but someone who is indifferent to the care of her biological children in that she not only puts them in harms way by allowing them to build bonds with gang members, but she also encourages them to continue in criminal behavior by providing a location to harbor felons."
Miller is facing charges of child neglect and maintaining a drug dwelling. She was taken to Putnam County Jail and released on a $5,000 bond.
Ja'zari Fields, his brother Amaad Fields, and Fowler are all suspects in a series of shooting that happened on the Northside of Palatka, as well as at Miller's home.
Ja'zari Fields was sentenced in June for his involvement in two shootings that took place in 2022. He was sentenced to time served for one case, and was placed on probation for both shootings, police said. He is a convicted felon.
Now, Ja'Zari Fields faces multiple counts of selling cocaine within 1,000 feet of public housing, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, and violation of adult probation warrant. He was taken to Putnam County Jail where he is being held on no bond.
Amaad Fields is facing charges of marijuana possession of over 20 grams, possession of a firearm under a felony indictment, and possession of ammunition under felony indictment. He was taken to Putnam County Jail where he is being held on no bond.
Fowler is facing charges of resisting without violence, sale of marijuana within 1,000 feet of public housing. He was released from Putnam County Jail on $500 bond.
