Police seek public's help in February shooting death at Jacksonville apartments

Elias "Louie" Alhirsh was shot multiple times about 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 26 in a parking lot at the Sugar Mill apartments.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police are seeking the public's help in finding the killers of a 34-year-old man attacked in late February at an apartment complex across from Crown Point Elementary School.

Elias "Louie" Alhirsh was shot multiple times about 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 26 in a parking lot at the Sugar Mill apartments, police said.

The investigation now reveals that Alhirsh had come to the complex to visit a friend, then was walking back to his car when two men approached him, police said. A physical altercation occurred and Alhirsh was shot as the gunmen drove off in a dark sedan.

"The motive behind the murder and the relationship between the suspects and the victim are unknown," police said in a request for the public's assistance Wednesday.

Alhirsh's wife also has issued pleas on Facebook saying, "God will never create another human being as perfect and as passionate as you. She said finding a custom-made gold bracelet inscribed “Done Right” on the buckle, "stolen from him during his murder," will help the investigation.

Anyone with information can call the Sheriff’s Office at (904) 630-0500 or leave an anonymous tip and be eligible for a possible reward by calling First Coast Crime Stoppers at 866-845-8477 (TIPS).
