The officer at the scene says someone started shooting in the area and the school bus was hit.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A school bus was hit by a bullet in the Hogans Creek area of Jacksonville near UF Health Monday afternoon around 3:40 p.m., according to a Jacksonville sheriff's officer on the scene.

Police confirmed a witness account that two people were shooting at each other.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the two people were engaged in a conflict at a nearby apartment complex, and a bullet hit a bus window.

There were 30 children on the bus at the time, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department says there were no injuries.

The driver and children were able to get off of the bus and go to a "reunification" area to reunite parents with their children.
