Police: Jacksonville man took himself to hospital after being shot in groin, has been uncooperative

JSO says an unidentified man in his 20s is in non-life-threatening condition after being in a fight and suffering from one gunshot wound.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is reported to have taken himself to a hospital after being shot in the groin Saturday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO's Sergeant D.B. Scott says officers arrived at the UF Health hospital at 600 W 8th St. around 5 a.m. There they found an unidentified man in his 20s is in non-life-threatening condition after suffering from one gunshot wound.

Police say preliminary evidence suggest the man was engaged in a fight at an unknown location and time with an unknown person. JSO does not know what the fight may have started from. The person of interest in this incident is also unknown, as law enforcement believes there is one shooter.

Investigators say the man has been uncooperative so far as the sheriff's office will further interview the victim, find the location of where the incident occurred and conduct a canvas of the area.

Police say there are no witnesses yet in this case.
