Police release surveillance video of cars potentially involved in hit-and-run that killed Drew Kohn

Kohn made headlines after he survived a 200-day coma in 2017. His family is asking for help finding one of the people involved in his death this July.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A month after a deadly hit and run, the family of Drew Kohn is pleading for the driver who left the scene to come forward. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office just released surveillance video of two vehicles of interest they're looking for in connection to the hit and run on the Westside.

Kohn's incredible recovery after a motorcycle crash in 2017, which left him in a coma for more than 200 days, was the subject of many stories on First Coast News. He died just days before his 30th birthday, when police think he was hit by at least two cars as he crossed Collins Road on foot in Jacksonville near Schindler Drive.

The driver of a pickup truck that struck Kohn stayed on scene and called 911. Police believe the other driver left the scene and hope that a tip will help identify that driver.

The incident happened on Friday, July 26 between 5 and 5:30 a.m. The two vehicles appear to be a dark SUV and a dark sedan.  JSO says it is actively working this case but right now investigators do not have any credible leads.  Police say the vehicle(s) would have significant front end damage. Surveillance photos are attached below, and the video can be found here.

"Maybe you know an adjuster who was fixing the car or your neighbor who is driving a car, and now they're not driving and it's in the driveway, anything suspicious," Osborne-Kohn said. "Even if you were going the opposite direction."

“We will follow any and all tips that come in with hopes of bringing answers to this hurting family,” JSO Community Engagement Executive Vic Micolucci told First Coast News.

Kohn's mother is urging the public to come forward if they know anything.

"There are a lot of unknowns, and if they would come forward, it would help fill in the blank and certainly, it would give us a different type of closure based on what this person is going through at this time," she said. "I'm sure they're overwhelmed. I'm sure, you know, both sides are, but we just want Drew to get justice. And there's no malice here."

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says this is an active investigation. If you have any information that could help solve this hit-and-run, please call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS. JSO is offering up to a $3,000 reward.
