JACKSONVILLE, Fla — Two children got a hold of a firearm in a North Jacksonville home Monday when the gun went off and sent one of them to the hospital, police say.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the incident occurred in the 11000 block of Alexandra Drive around 4 p.m. According to police, two children were handling a firearm when it went off.
One child was transported to UF Health in critical condition.
JSO is in the early stages of the investigation, and could not say if any parents were inside the home at the time of the incident.
