A man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing five people at an industrial facility in North Florida after asking his pastor to pray for him, according to the Tallahassee Police Department.
Police arrested Antwann Demetrius Brown, 41, on Wednesday and charged him with five counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of aggravated assault.
According to an arrest report, the 911 call came in at 8:33 a.m. and the caller explained that they were hiding and that Brown was “stabbing everyone.”
Police immediately responded to Dyke Industries located at 2011 Maryland Circle and found Brown nearby with what looked like dried blood on his hands, fingernails and on his shirt.
Police also discovered five people who were stabbed at the business. All five people were taken to a nearby hospital with one person in serious condition, two in fair condition and two in good condition.
Investigators say Brown had been working at Dyke Industries for about three and a half months and "spontaneously" stabbed the employees after getting into a verbal dispute.
According to the police report, Brown got into the dispute and walked across the street from Dyke Industries and to call his pastor. The pastor advised police that Brown begged him "to pray... and to forgive him".
Officials say after his conversation with Brown, his pastor reported the conversation to the police.
Police say Brown then returned to Dyke Industries where he stabbed a victim who was there for a job interview and four other employees.
Police say one of the victims told them he asked Brown if he was a manager and was suddenly stabbed. Another person said he confronted Brown after being made aware of the attack and was also stabbed.
Police documents say that a third victim was in the office area near the back of the facility and left their office to help before Brown attacked him as well.
Two other employees were also reportedly stabbed.
According to the report, another victim told police they heard the attacks and called 911 when Brown approached them while armed with the knife.
Police say the victim pleaded with Brown for their life, and Brown responded by saying, "I'm going to spare you this time," and left the business.
Brown is being held in the Tallahassee Detention Facility without bond.
