Police: Man arrested in connection to June 2023 murder at 'homeless encampment' in Glynn County

The Glynn County Police Department says 28-year-old Alex Etheredge was arrested Monday for the murder of 39-year-old Christopher Suttles.

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — A man was arrested on Monday in connection to a June 2023 murder at a "homeless encampment" in Glynn County, according to the Glynn County Police Department.

Alex Etheredge, 28, was arrested by GCPD's Major Crimes Unit for murder in the death of 39-year-old Christopher Suttles, the police department said in a release.

On June 7, 2023, the police department says officers found Suttles with a gunshot wound at the encampment on Merchants Way.

"Lifesaving steps including CPR were unsuccessful and Suttles died from his wound," GCPD said in the release.

One witness told police "someone came into the camp and said quote, 'We're about to show these [expletive] what we're all about,'" according to the incident report.

"Dispatch advised one of the [911] callers stated a white male and a black male were seen running away from the scene," the report states.

Police say the investigation into the fatal shooting is ongoing and "more charges are expected in the case."

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact GCPD's 'Criminal Investigations Division' at 912-554-7802 or the police department's non-emergency number at 912-554-3645. To report information anonymously, call Silent Witness at 912-264-1333.
