Police: 21-year-old killed, 17-year-old hurt after shooting at St. Marys apartment complex

The deadly shooting happened at the Cumberland Oaks Apartment Saturday night, according to the St. Marys Police Department.

ST. MARYS, Ga. — A 21-year-old man is dead and a 17-year-old boy was injured after a shooting Saturday night, according to the St. Marys Police Department.

Around 9:17 p.m., officers responded to the Cumberland Oaks Apartment complex located at 100 Mary Powell Dr. regarding a reported shooting, police said.

Officers found 21-year-old Lancine Bakary Soumahoro on the ground with a gunshot wound. Police said he was taken to the Southeast Georgia Health System - Camden Campus where he was pronounced dead.

A 17-year-old boy was also found suffering from a gunshot wound at the scene. Police said he was shot in the arm and taken to the Southeast Georgia Health System - Camden Campus by a family member. He was later life-flighted to UF Shands Jacksonville with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Kingsland Police Department, Camden County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation assisted the St. Marys Police Department with the incident.

No suspects have been identified in the shooting, and an investigation is ongoing.
