JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man died Thursday morning after he was found unresponsive in a vehicle by Jacksonville police on the city's northside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to the 10500 block of Lem Turner Road at approximately 6:30 a.m. in reference to a call received of an unidentified person hearing gunshots fired in the area.
At the same time the call was received, an additional call was received, indicating that the unidentified man was unresponsive in a vehicle in the same area, police say. Officers found the man who was suffering from a gunshot wound. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to the scene and took the man to a local hospital where life-saving measures were performed. However, the man later died to his injuries.
JSO's Homicide and Crime Scene Units responded to conduct an investigation and are currently looking for witnesses and surveillance footage of the incident.
