Multiple injuries reported in crash on A1A as Nassau deputies chased theft suspects

The suspects fled and struck a deputy's vehicle before eventually crashing into oncoming traffic at SR 200/Santa Barbara St.

YULEE, Fla. — At least four suspects ran from law enforcement at Kohl’s in Yulee around 2:30 pm Wednesday.

The suspects fled and struck a deputy's vehicle before eventually crashing into oncoming traffic at SR 200/Santa Barbara St.

The suspects struck another vehicle, according to Nassau County Sheriff's Office.

Emily Pipkin drove past the aftermath of the crash.

"Worst crash I've ever seen for sure, pretty terrifying. There were two cars looked like they had ran directly nose-to-nose the front of the cars completely crushed."

The driver of the vehicle hit by the suspects was taken to the hospital via UF Health TraumaOne.

"It looked like there was a woman who was in the driver's seat...and it looked like there was six firemen trying to pull her out and then all of a sudden they start pointing to the backseat, so I don't know if there were kids in the backseat that they noticed but they immediately all went to the backdoors of the car to try to open them and get whoever was in the backseat out," Pipkin said.

The suspects were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries according to the sheriff's office. No deputies were hurt.

First Coast News spoke with Laura Fahm about the crash.

Hours after the chase she was holiday shopping where the crash started.

"It's very concerning, people have no regard for others," Fahm said.
