Meth and fentanyl seized in Columbia County after investigation over several months, police say

"Direct subjects and co-conspirators involved are not being named at this time," the Columbia County Sheriff's Office said.

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — About ten pounds of meth and two ounces of fentanyl were seized last week which police say were headed for Columbia County.

The seizure took place on Friday following a month-long investigation by members of the Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force., according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

That investigation determined that the drugs were headed for Columbia County. As the investigation is ongoing, "direct subjects and co-conspirators involved are not being named," police said.

The MJDTF has seized more than $1.5 million in drugs, 18 firearms and $53,000 in assets in 2024.

“Pounds of deadly drugs were stopped from pouring into our community thanks to the ongoing commitment and dedication of our drug task force. Much of their work goes unseen but this team is very much appreciated for their constant effort in combatting illegal narcotics. I could not be more proud of their work and our partnerships with other agencies which makes successful outcomes like this possible,” Sheriff Mark Hunter said in a press release.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s office is the lead and parent agency of a federally assisted program known as the Gateway HIDTA Initiative, whose task force is comprised of federal, state and local agencies.
